When players first start out down the road to making gold in the World of Warcraft they often limit themselves to a few, restricted gold making strategies and often ignore, or don't understand the importance of the professions to the making of wow gold.

As a young Alliance Mage in my early levels I struggled to make gold and was often confused by the many professions that you could learn. I wasted much time and gold on professions that did not complement my class and ignored the secondary professions of Fishing, Cooking and First Aid altogether. I simply didn't understand the role the professions played in the wow economy and how I could use them to make a ton of gold.

The Professions Power the Warcraft Economy

Now listen closely friend, and follow my advice: a good understanding of the professions in the World of Warcraft is fundamental to the making easy wow gold. Professions are the powerhouse of the wow gold economy and the more you understand them the greater will be your capacity to make easy wow gold.

Gathering and Crafting

The professions in wow are normally divided up into two categories: Primary and Secondary. The primary professions, in turn, can also be subdivided into Gathering (Mining, Herbalism and Skinning) and Crafting (Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Inscription, Jewelcrafting and Tailoring). The secondary professions include Cooking, Fishing and First Aid. The rules of the wow professions are that you can only train on two of the primary profession at any one time and any or all of the secondary professions.

It's All About Supply and Demand

Now, in the World of Warcraft, the gathering professions are responsible for the supply of many of the basic materials in demand by the crafting professions. This supply and demand cycle is what drives much of the wow economy.

Choose A Sensible Combination of Primary Professions

So, it makes sense early on in the game to choose at least one gathering profession (producer) and one crafting profession (consumer) that complement each other and which makes sense to your class. So, for example, pairing the profession of Herbalism (gathering/producer) with either Inscription (crafting/consumer) makes sense. You'll spend time gathering herbs to supply to your craft without having to spend valuable gold buying them on the Auction House.

Be a Net Provider of Mats to Make Easy WoW Gold

If you can also be a net provider of those materials in demand by the crafting professions, you'll always be able to make gold in wow. Herbalism is a good example. It takes no time at all to gather a few herbs on your travels. Those that you don't need can be auctioned.

Don't Forget the Secondary Professions

In the same way, it costs you very little to learn the secondary professions. My advice, friend, is to learn all three. You'll find that Cooking and First Aid will help you level faster by providing great food to feed you and bandages to heal you, resulting in less down time between bouts of action.
